Welcome

Sarah Ra’anan is a children’s portrait photographer, specializing in babies. Sarah’s images capture the very essence and depth of your child’s character, bringing a tear to the eye of even the toughest dad. Though truly versatile, it is through outdoor candid photography that Sarah excels. In particular, her sessions in wooded and rural settings create the perfect fusion between the innocent joy of childhood and mother nature.

From the moment she gets up in the morning, Sarah does not stop communicating with friends, family & clients. Facebook, blog, email, SMS, and phone, her life is fully, and digitally, catalogued. This blogsite is the perfect combination for Sarah – a space to communicate with everyone and showcase her work, all in one place.

When she is not communicating she takes time out to sleep, exercise and on a rare occasion (such as prior to the visits of her mother in law) she has been known to do some housework. Sarah aspires to learn Italian one day, go on an African safari, listen to more jazz and drink more water. Sarah has three of the spiciest children anyone could ask for – and there is no greater joy for her than spending time with them and her best friend/husband.

My Glamour Girls

September 2nd, 2010 | Bat Mitzvah, Children, Families, Portraiture

Ok, not sure how on earth this slipped through the net but I was just about to get started on a new blog post when i suddenly realised that I hadnt blogged one of my fave sessions from way back in May!
One man, so blessed with 5 beautiful women! Leaves me wondering what his secret is to surviving all those female hormones ;) ….
Until very recently, we were neighbours and thankfully we are all still good friends. We were so lucky to fall upon such good neighbours when we first arrived here and now that we have moved, we will really miss seeing them every day & popping across the road barefoot to borrow onions, sugar, and various other random items!
Anyway, we got together to take some post Bat Mitzvah images of Adina and all the family, after all the excitement of the day had calmed down a little. I have (as usual) so many favourite images that these really dont do it justice. Maybe i’ll post a slideshow here in a few days so you can see all the images!
I loved photographing them all, they are all so gorgeous and so unique. I will be grabbing the older two for some very funky, grungy modeling sessions soon so keep a look out!

Thank heaven for little girls!

August 10th, 2010 | Children, Families, Park, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

Oh my! 4 young ladies, each with their very distinct look and personality. It’s sessions like these where I wish I had an hour with each child, but we made the most of it and boy did I enjoy them!

I always love that part at the end of the session where the mother looks at me and says “do you think you got anything good?” and i just smile sweetly and say “yep, i think so”. then I go home, upload their gallery and just wait for the “OMG!!!” email!

I enjoyed the tree pictures at the end of our session the most, getting the kids up in to the trees and dying laughing trying to get them all down again. We decided against putting the baby in the tree….

Thank you guys, it was a treat meeting you all and you were a total pleasure to work with. Am coming over in a few weeks to make sure that canvas is hanging in your home :)

Let’s go fly a kite….

July 29th, 2010 | Beach, Children, Families, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

Another great session on the beach! we took a couple of kites and some lollipops and that was all it took. (Note to self: lollipops and sand dont mix too well)

There are so many shots here that I love – everyone really got in to the session and had fun with it (even mum & dad managed to enjoy themselves with a water fight in the sea!)

I totally failed in trying to narrow the images down to a top ten  – so here’s my top 17 :) You can click on each image to enlarge it….

My first kibbutz session!

June 26th, 2010 | Children, Families, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

This was such a special session. Abigail and I have been friends for so many years and through the help of Facebook, email and occasional reunions, we have managed to stay in touch and watch each others families grow. When I was still in America, Abigail talked about having this session and we even discussed what day of the week we would do it and how. Luckily for us, she figured that combining the shoot with a weekend visit at her kibbutz would be the best solution! :)
So, we all spent shabbat with the Madmoni family and had the photo shoot on the Friday afternoon. It’s so amazing to look into these beautiful children’s eyes and see different pieces of their parents, in their features and their expressions. I had an amazing time getting to know the kids and driving round kibbutz looking for different places to shoot. I am super super thrilled with the images (and there are many)
Here are just some of my faves…..
