“my heart my soul my pride my joy my boy my everything”

I was so thrilled when my dear friend Sabrina contacted me about booking a ‘baby plan’ package of maternity, newborn and family portraits. People often ask me why they would bring their newborns for a photo session; why not wait until they are sitting up and are a bit more interesting? This is such a common  mistake! They will only be newborns for such a short amount of time and you want to capture that fleeting moment in their lives! Newborns must be photographed within with the first 2 weeks of life, and preferably within the first week. At this stage, they are usually still very small and sleepy and will usually still be curling up in that adorable fetal position. Of course you can always record these moments for yourself too, but you should also consider the difference in hiring a professional photographer who will produce professional artistic portraits that you can treasure.

Just look at these images of precious little Levi. It took a long time to get each shot, and everything had to be just right, including switching off the A/C so the room was nice and toasty! I will often take 20 minutes, maybe more, just to get one shot, especially if baby needs to feed in between or messes a blanket which then needs to be changed. Sessions can take anything up to 3 hours and during that time we will attempt about 5 different poses. But  look at the results that you get to treasure forever!

Little Princess Noa

August 24th, 2011 | Newborns, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

Phew! It’s been a long time away from my desk. I haven’t blogged since June; where did the summer go!? I made a decision this year that most of July and August would be dedicated to my kids, with as little iphone and computer time as possible. I am proud to say that I have stuck to it and as a result, have had such a great summer with them.

The flip side of that of course is that now I am back to work, I have a pile of orders to get through and 9 session booked so far within the next four weeks. Time for me and my camera to get re acquainted :)

So, before I start blogging August sessions, i have to just play catch up and add this newborn session from July

Isnt it crazy; she was just a week old here and already I could see family resemblances in her face…

What a doll hey? She was so good. I schlepped her about a lot but she just stayed sleepy…

I just had to include this ‘leaf’ image, hilarious! Not only will this little princess have two big brother fiercely protecting her but she can also count on her daddy, who is already worrying about her modesty and went to grab this leaf to make sure she was suitably covered up! :)

(She found it funny too :) )

The very beginning…

August 26th, 2009 | Newborns, Portraiture

It’s catch up time! It’s been almost 3 weeks since we left America and I am ITCHING to start blogging my summer sessions! In the words of Julie Andrews “let’s start from the very beginning”… literally.

Baby Boy N was no more than 6 days old when we met for our session, hows that for the ‘very beginning’? This image below is my absolute favorite from the session -  I love the expression on his face, the crinkle under his chin, and his little bunny friend in the background…

This next image is also a big fave of mine – made me gasp when i first viewed it on my screen. It’s those lips and that chin again, yummmm!

Here you can see his little legs all curled up, and look at the way his hair swirls so perfectly…ohhhh newborn babies!!…..

And lastly, what newborn session would be complete without a close up of the feet?..
