“Sometimes”, said Pooh, “the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

And boy is our little Missy ‘R’ small. I’ve never seen such a tiny baby. I almost stopped breathing (hang on, maybe that was because of the temperature I heated the room to?…) As you can see, she was very comfortable with the sweltering heat, made her smile :)

Miss R has inherited her daddy’s very long legs (lucky girlie)  – so long though that I couldnt tuck them underneath her like i usually do with newborns! They just kept popping out!

Just look at the little newborn creases….

The footsies with the peeling skin….

The chin dimple and her totally perfect parting in her hair <3

I even got a wink ;)

Welcome to the world little Miss R, you’ve landed in one special family and will be very very loved.

Kisses and hugs,

Sarah

Lilah’s 3 month session

April 11th, 2012 | Babies, Children, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

I used to do a lot of 3 month sessions in America and have really missed doing them here! Newborn photography is becoming increasingly popular amongst my clients which is very exciting but I wanted to write a quick post and emphasise the importance of all the ‘milestone sessions’ – newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and one year. Babyhood flies by so fast and investing in professional portrait at these important stages is one of the best gifts you could ever give yourself, and your child. I am currently working on some great package ideas and will publish these as soon as they are ready. Meantime, click on the thumbnails from Lilah’s 3 month session and take a look at the scrumminess!

Melt <3 Melt <3 Melt <3

Meet the newest little miracle on my blog. This pretty little bundle of joy arrived in the world just 7 days ago (6 days in the photos!). It’s so obvious and yet always so mircaulous when that faceless bump in mama’s tummy suddenly transforms into this living, breathing little miracle, complete with fingers, toes, ears, lips…

Little Miss ‘A’ just melted my heart, and i’ll bet she’ll melt yours too <3

A big thank you to her special mummy for driving over an hour in morning traffic behind slow trucks to make it to our session! It was worth it<3

Dear Blog…

November 17th, 2011 | Children, Families, Park, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

Dear Blog,

May I start by saying i’m sorry? I know it’s a while since i’ve been in touch. Sometimes I just need to take a break, dont take it personally. But I hope today’s post makes up for it. Pretty frames and everything :))

This session was back in September in the park. Love this first one so much. They were all loving and cuddling up close together for a whole 10 seconds….

(Sometimes i try and explain to kids that its so important to me that they squash up close together so that none of their limbs get cut off at the edge of their image, but they just look at me funny. Cant imagine why..)

I think we were discussing which member of the family has the smelliest feet when I took this one of Zak…perhaps i’ll keep the answer to myself? :)

Etti thoroughly enjoyed posing and twirling for the camera; she could have had a whole session just to herself! I love her eyelashes in the second image

We had to be very cunning with Dan to get him to stay still when it was his turn but we pulled it off and totally captured his spicy spirit

Oh Hila. She is just so yummy-liscious but was feeling a little pensive that day, but still beautiful as always

These next images are some of my faves from the session; natural and funny, they just make you smile

Love these of the beautiful mama and baby….

The family portrait. Needs to be blown up to a large canvas over the fireplace IMHO :)And lastly, mum & dad. So nice when couples actually request to have their photo taken together, it’s so important to remember to have  photos with your spouse once in a while!

Thanks guys for a great session! Looking forward to seeing your house decorated by your beautiful images…

“my heart my soul my pride my joy my boy my everything”

October 5th, 2011 | Babies, Newborns, Portraiture, Raanana Portrait Photographer, Sarah Raanan

I was so thrilled when my dear friend Sabrina contacted me about booking a ‘baby plan’ package of maternity, newborn and family portraits. People often ask me why they would bring their newborns for a photo session; why not wait until they are sitting up and are a bit more interesting? This is such a common  mistake! They will only be newborns for such a short amount of time and you want to capture that fleeting moment in their lives! Newborns must be photographed within with the first 2 weeks of life, and preferably within the first week. At this stage, they are usually still very small and sleepy and will usually still be curling up in that adorable fetal position. Of course you can always record these moments for yourself too, but you should also consider the difference in hiring a professional photographer who will produce professional artistic portraits that you can treasure.

Just look at these images of precious little Levi. It took a long time to get each shot, and everything had to be just right, including switching off the A/C so the room was nice and toasty! I will often take 20 minutes, maybe more, just to get one shot, especially if baby needs to feed in between or messes a blanket which then needs to be changed. Sessions can take anything up to 3 hours and during that time we will attempt about 5 different poses. But  look at the results that you get to treasure forever!

“Other things may change us, but we start and end with family” – Anthony Brandt

We have been planning this session for quite a while, and what was originally a session for a family of 4, blossomed into a brand new family of 5! I love this family portrait, and the pink & grey together work really well….

I went a little storyboard crazy with this family when presenting them with their gallery.

Think I’m going to get these printed up for my studio walls..

Ok, as usual, extreme indecision over what to post, narrowed it down to 15, not really good enough huh? And I can see that all my choices are in B&W, no deep hidden meaning there…

So, first we have the little guy with his big sistas…..

Having a father-daughter moment…

They were so bouncy, we did this a LOT!

yeah, sure, my hair also looks that great when i’m jumping up and down…

And lastly, the little cub, enjoying lullabies from his sis {bless}
